What to Expect After the Hiring Appointment
Prior to the Hiring Appointment
- Once you receive the initial onboarding email, please respond with your availability for an onboarding appointment and send back any forms included in the initial email.
- If you're living outside of the Davis area and will be working remotely, please let your onboarding specialist know. They can adjust the hiring process to onboard you remotely.
- Complete prior to the appointment:
- Complete Section 1 of the I-9 - this was emailed to you. If you need to link resent, please let your onboarding specialist know.
- Select and find the document(s) you will use to complete section 2 of the I-9.
- List of acceptable documents can be found here.
- If you are a US citizen, the I-94, DS-2019, and the I-20 do not apply to you.
- Note: All documents presented must be the original document and cannot be expired. Expired documents, copies, and pictures are not accepted.
- If there are some items in the above list that are not completed prior to appointment, it can extend the length of the appointment or in some instances you will need to reschedule your appointment to come back to our office.
- Our office is located off campus at 1333 Research Park Dr, Davis, CA 95618.
- Our office is accessible by car, bike, or bus. The parking lot near entrance has designated free spaces for short term parking while visiting AUSSC.

- M Line (from the Silo): 5 stops you can get off at Research Park Drive
What to Expect at the Hiring Appointment
- The hiring process typically takes around 15 minutes
- You will need to present the original, unexpired document(s) you brought with you to complete section 2 of the I-9.
- When you arrive in our office lobby suite, please give the onboarding specialist a call. They will come meet you and bring you back to our workspace.

What to Expect After the Hiring Appointment:
- It will take anywhere from 3 to 5 business days before you receive the after hire email. Around the start of Fall quarter, it will take closer to 5 days.
- You can start working before you receive the after hire email.
- Before accessing UC Path or TRS, you must be in active status.
- Active status means that you have received the after hire email from the onboarding specialist and it is after your hire date.
- If you receive the after hire email before your hire date, you will be in inactive status until your hire date.
- Once you receive the after hire email, please wait 24 hours before logging into UC Path or TRS (you must be in active status).
- We highly recommended each employee sign up for direct deposit ASAP. It can take up to two weeks for direct deposit to become active. It is very likely that your first paycheck will be a paper paycheck. Once your direct deposit becomes active, you will receive your paycheck on pay day. Instructions to sign up for direct deposit are in the Employee FAQs under the Payroll header.
